Solved: Upgrades... And Archives
I have inherid an data tape reel of somekind my grandfather told me there is something on there of great importance he stored it in a safe all his life... it seem to be in good condition but i do not want to touch it... i am sooo curious what is on there...

How do i read the data since i do not even own a floppy drive.

From your description it seems you are referring to a tape that is played on a reel to reel tape recorder. Have a look here to see if that is what you have: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reel-to...tape_recording

Next you would need to determine if it is an audio tape or data in order to find a player for it.

I assumed it is data but it could be audio thanks man.

If it is data how do i get an computer to read it?

If it is tape as shown in the article I linked, and the tape is 1/4 inch wide; chances are that it is audio. If it is 1/2 inch wide then it could be studio quality audio, or computer data.

You would need to find a suitable player for it (a home computer won't do). Ando if data you would need to know the data format.

I had a couple of these when I was much younger. One was a recorder.player that had 3 inch or so tape reels. It had a built in speaker. Another used 7 inch or so reels, and had RCA jack audio outputs that were connected to my stereo.
