I was looking for a hard to find an electronic part (data bus transformers) a couple of days ago and checked out the website for a company that manufacturers them.

While I was on the website my work phone rings and when I answered it, a salesperson for the company wanted to know if I was finding what I am looking for?

After freaking out a bit trying to figure out how they knew who I am, I told them no I didn't find it yet... but this is what I am looking for. They helped me find the correct web page, and sent me a price quote for the parts.

This happened because I had visited their website about two years ago and signed up for an account to view certain data on their website. I guess it ended up being a good thing in this case.

Glad that it ended up helping you. Cookies can be good and bad... they can track what you do on the web site and smart folks use that data to figure out what sort of products and services you may be interested in.
