Solved: Battery won't charge?
Hello, sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section.

I have a Presario V6000 laptop and when I hover over the battery in the right hand corner of the screen it says "0% available (plugged in, charging)". However it clearly isn't charging as it has said this for over a month now and I always have the wire plugged in. And because it is 0% charged it means that whenever the wire comes out my laptop goes off! Also whenever my laptop does go off (either by me actually shutting the computer down or by the wire coming out) my date and time goes back to July 6th 2006 1:02. So not only do I have to be careful not to remove the wire but I also have to change the date/time whenever I log on. Please, please, please can someone help me. It's driving me mad!

Many thanks

This is what I think is happening, its quite common for the charger jack to go faulty, connections inside, and so your battery is not charging and is now exhausted hence the clock going haywire when the computer shuts down, you need to have it looked at if you are not able to do it yourself ....this may or not be the problem, but it certainly sounds like it to me ....

Thank you for replying. Do you think buying a new battery will help?

This is a difficult one to answer,if the battery is a good few years old and has had many charges then yes it might be the battery worn out, but if the charger socket is the culprit then it will still be the same ...I really think you should take it to a reputable shop and they will be able to advise better, as they will have hands on,they should be able to tell if the socket is faulty by the feel of it hopefully....
