Hi,

first post here and hopefully posted in the correct place Can anyone confirm that it is ok to use a HDMI cable to connect a PAL system (My laptop) into an NTSC TV. maybe a dumb question but then again i am easily confused.

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Unless your TV supports PAL signal timing it will either give you a jumpy picture or just go black and ignore the PAL TV signal.

You might have better luck seeing if the video controller in the laptop has the option to run the HDMI output with NTSC timing.

Hi Chuck,

thanks for the welcome, i have used this site for ages to get info in the past and found it quite helpful. i will see if my laptop is able to do that and prepare to be disappointed
