Playability of DVDs between recorders
I have a Panasonic DVD DMR-ES20DEB recorder which I use to record direct from the TV. I can use DVD-R or DVD-RAM and can play back onto the same machine.

I have installed a SONY DVD DVP-NS318 player with my TV in the kitchen and want to play back DVDs recorded from the other machine. It doesn't work !

Anyone got any ideas ?

Do you have an option to Finish the DVDS in the panasonic - may DVD Writer Panasonic - needs to have the DVD - Finished before it will play DVDs anywhere else, then works on friends and family and my cheap £15 one in the kids bedrooms

You might look into the differences between DV+R and DV-R disks.
