Disc Drive/Burned DVD+R
My Disc drive is being strange.
It recently got a 30 discs of footage.
all on Sony DVD+R

Some discs work. Most don't. then one that reads as blank will play once. then blank again.
normal cds and DVD read quick and fine.

Is it my drive or did this guy do bad burns and rip me off?

Are you trying to read previously burned discs? If so, test them in another driver/PC. That will verify the discs.

Aside from that, likely an unsupported media issue. While all drives should read all discs, that is not the case.

yes. but it seems to read them whenever it wants to. like one minute it will read multiple discs fine, then it won't read the same disc at all no matter how many times i reload it.

If it was an unsupported media issue, wouldn't it just come up blank all the time?

My battery is completely dead and not detected i need a new one and i'm running on adapter only, could that be the issue?
could it be a driver issue?
or is this inconsistancy just normal with burned discs?

If it's working intermittently, then most likely the drive is faulty.

Is the problem with the computer in your profile? If so, then I'd say the drive is shot. That's a very, very old computer. If you don't plan to buy a new laptop any time soon, you might try an external USB optical drive.
