Music will not stop playing in background on my computer

Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd., 7VT600-RZ
Antivirus: avast! Antivirus, Updated: Yes, On-Demand Scanner: Enabled

I have some kind of sound thing on here called AC97 Sound Configuration which was put on by the guy who rebuilt my computer. I have some kind of music playing in the background which if I put it on there, was done without my knowing. How do I get it off. Also, I just want Windows media or whatever is simple to listen to music if I want to. Please tell me how to rid my computer of this stuff.

"AC97 Sound Configuration" is most likely the the audio chipset software.

As for the music, you will need to find what is playing the music. It could be a webpage, a media player, another application, or several other sources.

WMP (Windows Media Player) is part of the OS and should already be installed/useable on the PC.
