For the past month, my computer has had a hard time playing media, both on my hard drive and streaming online. This only occurs when I put the media in full screen, a smaller screens runs the media fine. I have no idea what it could be, other than updating my graphics card. Any ideas?

What type of media? For media on the HDD, I'd suspect the media player, or more specifically the codec used. Test with a different media player. KMPlayer, MPCHC, and VLC are all free.

Depending on your hardware specs, it's also possible you are pushing the limits of your hardware (ie: cpu speed, video card, etc.). This would become more apparent on a laptop, where heat issues often result in the hardware running slower to compensate.
