Exclamation Windows Media Player 9
I get the following error when installing Windows Media Player 9: "It was not possible to complete Setup. Windows Media Player 9 Series was not installed. To update Windows, run Windows Media Player 9 Series setup again." Please send any suggestions to my email.

Not at all. I noticed that sixpanel is a new member, and just wanted to point out that if everyone needing help were to request private answers, as he has, that none of the rest of us will learn to troubleshoot computers.

Ok, please respond on this thread to my question. I no longer have the problem with Windows Media Player 9. I upgraded to 10, and now every time I open a file associated with it, I get prompted to run setup again. When I go through the setup procedure, it starts all over again! What the heck is going on??? I've seen numerous questions about this on other sites but NO ONE has an answer. I'm about to buy a freaking Macintosh because Microsoft is becoming very irritating.

how about you switch to linux, a great free operating system.
ps i dont use wmp 10 i just use realplayer, but wmp10 is not fully developed yet and may have some bugs. try the troubleshooting.
personally i use linux and i haven't had much trouble with it once i figured it out and now it never crashes and does what i want when i want.

Oh well, I guess I'm not going to get an actual solution here. Thanks anyway.

Hiya sixpanel

Go to Windows Explorer, and look for this:

c:\windows\wmsetup.log

What line contains the "ERROR: "?

I was getting the same "try again" messages, while trying to load Windows Media Player 10. Tried numerous times.

Then, I just went to the directory, clicked on the file...and it played fine. Created a shortcut, and I'm good to go...

Hope this helps!

I get optional updates messages from Windows re media player 10.
But the updates info page says this:

Windows Media Player 10
Date last published: 9/7/2004
Download size: 12.1 MB
Windows Media Player 10 is the all-in-one media player that provides the best experience for discovering, playing, and taking your digital entertainment anywhere - on Windows XP PCs and the widest choice of portable devices. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. NOTE: This update applies to US clients only.
Before I noticed the US clients only, I tried to d/l the wmp10 but I didn't like it and something didn't d/l correctly, so went back to wmp9 which I am still happy with.
I'm not posting this because I have a problem, but maybe the bolded part of my post is why some people are having problems...just my 2 cents (1 cent Canadian )
