Solved: Burn data DVD
There's another thread in here with a guy who's having the same problem I'm having.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to burn a data DVD to a DVD+RW or even
a DVD-RW disk.

I'm using Nero 7 and when I get to the part where you click on burn, it say's: "I don't have a disk inserted" (and it shows ya all the different disk types it supports) and I click on the box that pops up to tell it there is a disk there, then it doesn't nothing.

I even tried using windows explorer to burn the DVD but that didn't work either.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Sometimes it's just a matter of the brand. If you have a different one, try that.

Does your drive support those formats? Use the Nero Infotool to see exactly what types the drive supports.

Hi Elvandil, What did ya mean when you said: "Does your drive support those formats? Use the Nero Infotool to see exactly what types the drive supports".

I'm not sure what ya mean by "drive supports".

I don't know Nero that well.

What he means is do you know if your DVD burner can burn to + and - RW disks? And are you positive it's capable of burning DVDs at all?

Yeah, I found that tool that Elvandil was talking about and it supports the kind of DVD'S I'm trying to use.

I'm gonna try another DVD burner and see what happens.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks!

I tried everything I could think of to fix this problem, but the only thing that fixed it was to go out and buy another DVD burner. The new one works just fine.

Thanks for the help you guys.

I was searching for the very same reason (stumbled on this old post), all my software is for burning Video onto a DVD, but nothing for a DATA DVD...as you can do with CD software.

I found this program, it is Freeware. I tried it out and was able to burn a data DVD. The only thing is it has advertising...like you get on MSN, but that is no big deal...just a little blurb at the bottom....be sure to uncheck the toolbars ( there are 2 on same screen) during installation.
