Problem with iTunes
Everytime I try to download iTunes (I've tried many times), I click run, then it does it's little thing and before the set up comes up, I always get this message.

"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verfiy that this is a valid Windows Installed package."

Now I don't have iTunes, so my iPod is completely useless, how do I fix it so that I can download it!?

I recall a problem similar to this which was caused by an anti-spyware application running during the failed instal - it was either Spybot S&D or Adaware . If you have either of these applications on your PC disable them and try the instal again .

Well I looked around on my computer and I don't seem to have either of those, I disabled any other kind I did have and tried again.
I still got the same message though =(.

I have Windows Xp.
I don't have an antivirus on here.
The only thing there is is Windows Firewall and I turned that off.

... Make sure that you're downloading the right version (i.e. -- not the one for Mac) ... that may have something to do with it ? ...

I've made sure.
I've downloaded iTunes many times before on different computers (including this one before it was reformatted) and I've never had this problem before.

Try downloading to your desktop , booting to Safe Mode and then installing . I'm still inclined to think there's some software on your machine that's causing this ....
Do you have an old version of Quicktime installed ? If so , it might be worth uninstalling it as iTunes comes with the newer version , IIRC .

I downloaded it to my desktop and booted to safe mode and tried it.
Same message.
So then I switched over to Administrator (a Profile that is only there in Safe Mode) and tried.
It gave me this message:
'The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.'

What policies?
I have no idea what's going on.

A quick web search leads me to believe this problem has nothing to do with iTunes. There's more of a general problem with the computer. You might want to consider scanning the computer for malware and/or repairing Windows.
