KVM switch and text ghosting problem
I tried a LinXcel USB+VGA 2 port KVM switch and also added a 4 port usb2 hub at monoprice to switch between a Mac G4 1.25 MDD and an AMD Athlon Asus WinXPpro computer sharing a 19" triniton monitor and usb keyboard. It works very well basically, however, I am getting mainly text ghosting. When I look at text on the internet and email, I get a less than sharp text image. You can see very slight white text images after each text. Graphic images overall look acceptable.I find it somewhat annoying but I wondered even if I purchase another KVM that I will still have that problem. I bought the best svga cable availabe at monoprice. I also made sure I kept the same resolution and refresh rates. I am now at my whits end and I am thinking of spending more money. The Connectpro Master IT USB2 UR-12 has gotten good reviews on Amazon. It looks like it is built well. This LinXel just has a plastic housing. Any suggestions and
insight is appreciated. thanks

Well, two of three reviews on the KVM switch (tiny url) said there was some ghosting, and its $12. That tells me its not shielded at all or very poorly so. Its a little unclear as to what the exact setup is though but now you're considering the Connectpro as a complete replace? If so it looks good, as always there will probably be USB sensing issues but you're probably used to dealing with those.

BTW. I ended up purchasing a ConnectPro from Amazon.com. It has worked great for me for over a month. Absoultely no ghosting at all. Amazing and easy to use. Just an electronic switch to go back and forth. It is also made very sturdy. I never realized how great KVM switches can be. My only regret is that I wish I had purchased the 4 port version but it is kind of pricey. I would like to add Linux to the line up. I only ended up paying $40 after signing up for Amazon's credit card. I also added a 4 port usb2 hub which also works very well. I purchased this hub at monoprice[ http://tinyurl.com/3kj3mt ]
