Artwork in Mp3 music file
Hi can someone please point me in the right diretion please

I have just started buying music from Itunes and after downloading it to my ipod when the song is played it displays the artwork as the track is playing.

I have looked in my itunes folder and the track are all there but there is no seperate artwork visible so it must be encoded into the track.

I also have some of my own cd's converted to mp3 but i have to plac the artwork in itunes manualy. i know this can be done in a Mp3 file but how

Regards

the artwork is mp3 in the tag info (metadata thats contained within the mp3 file itself)
are you using itunes to listen to music? if so its fairly easy to add missing artwork (for stuff you ripped yourself), let me know and I'll walk you through it

i thanks for the offer to help.

I am using both itunes music i have paid for and my own music collection i have ripped from my own cd's

I can put my own mp3 track on itunes and add the artwork in the artwork boxbut i have to have the artwork stored else where on my computer but not in the file itself.

I had a friend who had all the artwork embeded into the mp3 file and when he played it in media player he could see the cd cover, but i am no longer in contact with him and i wouls like to be able to embed this artwork into the file if possible

you can embed it in the mp3 easy enough with itunes
what I usually do for missing artwork is go to amazon and find the CD, then just right click on the image and choose "copy"

next with iTunes open highlite the song you want to add the artwork to and choose "get info"

next click on the artwork tab, right click somewhere inside the white box and choose "paste" (the image should now be showing there) then click the OK button at the bottom. You now have the image embedded in the tag

You can also do the same for multiple songs at once if you want by highliting all the ones on the same CD then choosing "get info" you will see a warning, click ok then be presented with

right click inside the artwork box and paste like before .... all the highlited CD's will now have the CD artwork

nope, what I described embeds the picture in the mp3, its should be there in whatever player you play the file in. I've always hated WMP though so don't know my way around it very well. Removing a track from itunes doesn't do anything to the file, just takes the pointer out of the library that tells it where it is. The songs aren't actually kept in the iTunes library, they are somewhere else (most likely in your My Music folder)
