Cant burn a dvd
Help, I cant burn a dvd, I could when I first got this pc, it is a HP Pavilion s 3710n Slimline with Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600). I can burn a music cd with Sonic which came with the pc. When I try to burn a dvd though it is a different story , I cant burn a dvd with Nero or Sonic or any dvd burner. Help, Thanks.

oh ok, well ya never know lol. ck ur device mgr & ide ata/atapi controllers & make sure they're set 2 dma etc. sometimes that gets reset to pio & will cause ur prob. then u can always use device mgr 2 uninstall the burner & let windows reinstall it on reboot. u have several options. keep trying

When a burner goes bad it is usually the DVD end that goes first.

click start then right click on my computer then hardware then device manager. list will show your ide controllers, right click primary ide channel then advanced properties & set to dma if it's not. do the same with 2ndary channel.
