I've recently got a 5 pack of memorex high speed CD-RWs now i use CD-RWs allot to transfer data from here to my other computer which is without internet atm but i always use Nero's full erase disk option.

But now, I just had to open my 3rd disk because 2 of them aren't working anymore! There not showing up as free space disk's and both NERO and Windows basic burning service wont burn them Windows is even saying that i need to put in a disk first before burning

Theres not a scratch on both of the disc's and i cant figure out whats going on. can these disk's be saved or are they done? Thank you.

WinXP SP2 ver. 2002 OEM
Intel Pentium 3 processor
601 Mhz 512 Ram
Drive: CREATIVE CD-RW RW1210E

(yeah i know its a grandpa compared to todays modern super computers but its still going strong)

Does your drive play CDs?
Is it listed in Device Manager with no errors?

Yes my drive is fine and yes it plays CDs. no problems there.

Burning laser may be shot.
You may try couple of things:
- get CD lens cleaner
- Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.

funny doesnt seem to be shot. anyways i tried what you said and uninstalled those drivers and rebooted twice it still doing it. Heres some pics of what it is doing exactly
Drive when reading a good CD
Drive when reading a "dead" CD
Refuses to burn "dead" CDRW.

Ive also noticed a reading difference with these CDs. when a good CDRW is put in ill hear a "wurrrrrrr" sound coming from the CD drive but when these dead CDs are put in the "wurrrrr" doesnt come up. What is going on with these CDRWs?

I'm not an expert, but it'll definitely tell you, if the drive is dead, or not.

ok its doing the SAME thing on that side too. so i can now assume thats its not my CD drives but the CDRWs themselves. question is how do i use them again?

oh right. i have 2 computers one doesnt have net that is my computer the one im on is another computer i use mainly. when i say that side or my side it usually means my computer.

no need for yelling. look no i didnt take the CD drive out of this computer and fit it onto another computer but i tested the problem CD-RWs on both computers and got the same results.

I guess, that pack of CDs is faulty, then.
BTW, is the drive on the other computer made by same company?
