Question Hooking surround sound up to digi box....
Heya,

I don't think it is actually possible, but I hope it is... but I guess it's no disaster if I can't do it, it would just be good if I could..... so my problem:

I bought a new Samsung LCD TV (LE37A456 C2D), and a Samsung Digital Home System, although not sure on code apart from it's HT-something. This Digital Home System has a DVD encorporated in the box. I also have a Samsung NTL digi box.

I have connected the three up, so that I can get surround sound out of the DVD player, which also plays radio, CDs etc, and works fine. However, I also want to get surround sound from the digi box, but I've tried all sorts of wiring and settings and nothing seems to work.

I think this won't be possible, because the digi box doesn't have any audio connections on the back of it. The only connections we have are; am aerial, an RF output, 2 scart sockets (one of which connects to the TV but the other one is empty), a test port, a USB socket, an Ethernet connection, the NTL connection, a Bypass 12V DC connection, and then the power supply.

However, there may be a way that you could connect it up the the surround sound? I've tried connecting a scart from the digi box to the Digital Home System, but this has done nothing. Any help would be gratefully received, as I've searched through countless forums and can't find any answers.

Thank you

Hi I have the same tv and htz310 home cinema sound. If you connect the htz by hdmi lead to hdmi input 2 and the optical audio lead to the tv it will put all sound through the htz310. When watching your digi box the pro logic II setting will give great pseudo 5.1 sound. In the manual it says the optical in has to be used. The TV comes set for no audio through HDMI 2 so that when playing dvds no sound from tv speakers Hope this helps
