Windows Vista Boot Disk Trouble
I'm having some trouble =[
I have a Windows Vista Bootable DVD disk to install the OS,
and I have a CD-RW/DVD (read only DVD) drive.
I put the disk in, but the computer will NOT recognize the disk is even in!
I can hear it spinning around a bit on the disk tray, but then it stops,
and nothing is showing up in My Computer! When I try to use the "Run" option and type in E:, it tells me to insert a disk, even though one is in. The disk will not boot when I start the computer with it in, and the computer just won't recognize it's there.....

=[ i really want to install Vista, and I KNOW my disk drive is DVD readable.

I am running Windows XP Professional, SP2
My Computer model is a IBM Thinkpad 600 Laptop.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!
thank-you =]

When you first start the computer, watch for a prompt on the screen
that tells you to press a key to enter setup.
Hit that key and find the boot device order and change the first boot device to
the optical drive.
Then try booting to the dvd.
It sounds like your drive isn't liking the disk.
Are you having problems with any other disks?

i would do that, but problem is, my laptop keyboard broke.
i have to use a USB keyboard that will not work unless windows has started. the Enter key is broken on the laptop board, along with various other keys. therefore i can't choose anything.

i'm having no problem with any other disks, and i've tested this one on another computer, and it works perfectly.

my only choice is to boot the disk from within windows,
and it just doesn't want to handle the disk. =[

Have you looked on ebay for a used replacement keyboard?
Would probably help to replace it.

Get a legal copy of Vista.
