Problem with capturing videos? Hey there.
Here is how it is.
I recently purchased a PCI FireWire card, so that I could happily capture videos from my SONY DCR-HC37 DV Camcorder, because I am quite unhappy with the video quality I produce from uploading by USB.
I fitted the card into the slot...turned the Computer on. Vista detected the new hardware device, and installed the drivers from the CD that came in the box. The new device has even appeared on the Device Manager, as: AGERE OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller.
The drivers are completely up to date, and apparently there is nothing wrong with the Firewire card.
Here is the PROBLEM.
The computer makes no response to me connecting the camera by i.link, as every video application I try to capture on, it tells me that there is no video device connected to the computer.
I CAN'T understand this! It's frustrating!
I have checked all of the camera settings, to see if there are any options to enable or disable firewire link, but such an option does not exist.
I have tried the softwares: Windows Movie Maker, Debut Video Recorder, Adobe Premiere CS3, and Ulead VideoStudio 11.
All of these programs pretty much give me the same message, (no device detected.)
However, Debut Video Recorder and Ulead VideoStudio 11 are the only two that even detect my camera when connected via USB.
Obviously, I HAVE made sure that my camera is set to play-back mode on each attempt.
So....I'm muddled up. Is it my computer, my OS, my camera, or my firewire card that is being very naughty?
Please help me, oh wise people. |
