How to use computer CD player without PC
I have a separate power supply for the player...
I have a sound system..

I had no problem doing this with plenty of CD players not with this particular one:

*** This player doesn't have a "play" button...only that to eject

Is there a way to play audio CDs in this case?

Computer CD drives use media player software on the computer
to enable music playback.
So,unless it was built as a stand alone drive with built in playback
hardware,it won't work.
