Question DVD/CD Drive: CD-Roms Dont Work
In Advance, I dont know much about computers so sorry if this obvious or something.

I have a computer with a DVD/CD Drive but all of a sudden Cds no longer work and Dvds still do. I searched around abit and people said to others with the same problem that the cd laser which reads the cds might of burned out or something and they have to get a new one, which i really hope i dont have to do. Is there anyway i can fix this problem at all?

Help much appreciated!!!

Edit: Also the computer was only bought 2-3 months ago so its not old, drive only worked like for 3 weeks? also the driver doesnt need updating ive already checked

Have you updated the firmware on the drive lately? (Not that I am recommending it. In fact, CD's are sometimes lost after an update.)

The very easiest way to find out if it is the drive is to try another. Do you have one?

What burning software do you have installed (including other programs that load CD-ROM drivers, like Daemon, Alcohol, UltraIso, etc.)?
