ipod/itunes problem! HELP!!!

hey all.

I just came home from a long weekend at a trailer and i plugged in my ipod nano 3rd generation (8gb) to put some more songs on it right? and it says its connected but it doesnt charge.. and then! i unplugged it, shutdown itunes and started it back up, then plugged it in again, and it deleted ALL of my 2000 songs... I am really angry and i cant fix it! i cant even put songs on it now because it deletes them like 10 seconds later! what do I do!? PLEASE HELP!
