Problem converting MPEG 4 to AVI file, is it possible?
Hi there,

I am a newbie in making video. I normally use the Microsoft Movie Maker to make movie. I do not have problems with the AVI files that I recorded with my small Canon Camera IS860 but when I tried to import files from my Sanyo HD video cam, the software said there is an error in the file or it is not compatible (need decoding).

I downloadeded different software (WinAVI, DivX, Movavi converter, etc.) and tried to convert the MPEG 4 files. They came out ok playing on the Window Media Play but will not display image (only audio) after I imported the files into WMM.

Can some one please tell me if it is possible to convert MPEG4 into a file format that works in the Window Movie Maker? Which software I should use? If WMM doesn't take MPEG4, which other movie making software that I should try?

Please advise and thank you for your help in advance.

Hi thank you for posting your advice. I went to www.domm9.org and there are a lot of different softward for download but didn't find the AVS converter. Is there one particular that named AVS or there are others?

After the MPEG4 files convert to AVI files, are they good to be edit in the Windows Movie Maker?

Thank you.
