Help! DVD playback colors swapped, inverted, reversed...
I searched for this problem but didn't find a specific reference. I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ260E laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium) w/Blu-ray drive. When I try to play a DVD (commercial or homemade) it plays, but the colors are reversed (skin blue, sky orange, etc). I can watch streaming video or downloaded movies but not my DVD's (they are not Blu-ray discs, just regular DVD). It's driving me mad! I have downloaded all the updates from Microsoft, Sony, NVidia, uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, tried different players (Intervideo WinDVD - came on machine, RealPlayer, WinAmp, Windows Media Player, QuickTime player and a couple of others) all to no avail. I don't think it's a video graphics problem because all other media looks fine. I do have iTunes installed (the latest version) and can download and play movies in it as well. I've not had much of use out of Sony either, since they have just suggested things I've already tried. I'm reluctant to give it up for repair as I've never done it before and I'm afraid they'll trash my machine. I love the notebook for everything, except this one niggling little (?!) problem. I hope somebody can help! If I've forgotten to mention anything please ask!
