Unhappy Corrupt File? File distorted on ipod, but not in itunes
I'm sort of at my wits end with trying to solve this problem on my own, so any help would be much appreciated. Recently, I downloaded about 50 or so new songs via limewire. I have never had a problem with this before, and if a file does not play when I download it, I immediately delete it. I played my new music in itunes and had no problems. The next time I went to use my ipod however, a bunch of these songs were distorted (sorry I don't know how to explain it better...try to imagine listening to a song and then getting really loud speaker feedback, or as if the song was "skipping" and making an obnoxious noise while doing so).

The distortion is only present in selected songs from the 50 I downloaded, all of the other 3000+songs on my ipod are uneffected. I tired deleting these files off my computer and re-downloading, didn't work. I tried re-formatting the ipod, didn't work.

My next step was software that checks files for problems and repairs them, I downloaded MP3 Checker, which only found 2 bad files and I deleted them. Still the same problem with the other files.

Next I downloaded MP3Val which scanned all my music for file integrity and fixed all of the files that had any problems. Still this doesnt work.

So finally I go to the apple store and make them give me a new ipod (I have the extended warrenty).

Got the new ipod today...same problem.

So i'm left with music that plays perfect in itunes, several programs saying that I have no music files with any errors, no spyware, no viruses, and yet over 20 files that will not play properly on my ipod?

Any suggestions?

Thanks again!!
