Increase Bandwidth or Change Browsers?
I've got Windows XP Home SP3 on a PC and a speedy DSL connection. I'm using IE6 (as long as it's working I'm not upgrading yet.)

Most of the time I'm able to watch videos on YouTube and there is minimal delay but on HULU there is often a long delay while it buffers - usually every time there is a new "chapter". It also takes a long time to buffer on the network sites if I watch a TV show.

I did a Google search and I saw several ways to increase Bandwidth but I don't know if their information is accurate and I don't want things to get worse.

So - is there a simple way to increase Bandwidth or will using a different Browser improve the way videos are shown? How do I tell what my current Bandwidth is?

Thanks!

Many of thoses so called bandwidth tweeks don't really do anything when actually messured and just subjectly tested. Many people are like "I did this and my browser goes twice as fast now." Bullsh*t I call on theses people. Anyway the issue your having is likely two fold. Your browser is getting old and you should be upgrading it to at least IE7 for security and compatablility. Second is your CPU. Since flash video such as Hulu are CPU dependent and not GPU dependent the older your computer gets and the more Hulu upgrades the poorer your PC will play Hulu videos. Hulu videos require more CPU power then Youtube videos do, quite a bit higher actually. What are you systems specs that will help us help you and let you know if there is soemething that can be tweaked or your computers just getting old.

Thanks for responding! It is relatively old - it only has a 4 CPU, 512 RAM. Is there anything else that you need to know?

What's your idea of "a speedy DSL connection"? The ability to watch streaming video is dependent on a fast connection

That should be adaquate for most video but I would expect some buffering at chapter points iwhile watching Hulu.

Thanks! It's just that some days it waits and buffers every minute even if I let it the buffer symbol get complete.
