C00d116a
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 Service Pack3

Issue: Cannot play DVDs in Media Center or Windows Media Player. I receive error code: C00D116A. Everything was working fine until one day it just quit. I have not installed any programs since purchasing the computer but I would like not to have to restore back that far. When I first began troubleshooting this issue I noticed that there was an ! next to the DVD drive. I allowed Microsoft to fix it for me with the Fix It application. That issue was resolved, however I am still unable to play DVDs. Below is a snap shot of my system information as well as a snap shot of the before and after the Fix it from Microsoft:

Before and after Fix it (last two commands at bottom of snapshot)

Does the drive play CDs?

Does it showup in device manager without any !!!...?

Take a look at it in Device Manager and see what model it is and then go to the link below to see if any firmware updates apply to it

Well you could try the dreaded Restore.....but it could be a faulty DVD part of the drive
