Hi astra730, and welcome to TSG.

We might be able to better hlp you if we knew ...

1) What software you were using to try to burn the DVD?

2) Has that software set up ever worked to burn DVDs on that computer?

3) Have you added or removed any programs between the last time you were able to burn a DVD and now?

4) Do you get any kind of error or failure messages when you try to burn the DVD?

5 Brand and model number of the DVD burner drive.

6) Does the drive show up as as DVD burner in the Windows hardware device manager?

7) Are you able to read CDs and/or DVDs with the drive?

hi chuck,
thanks for replying, i will try to give you the info you need, im not pc literate so here goes,
convertx to dvd has been my main one but when this didn't work i tried burn4free, nero and dvd santa. the soft ware has worked on this pc, i don't know if this is relevant it has had a new harddriver fitted 2 weeks ago. with the harddrive being replaced i had to install all programmes again. there was no error or failure message it just didn't burn. it tried but it seemed to be missing something. on convertx it converted then went into burn mode and instead of counting down the burn time it advanced from 47 hours to 60 hours and so on with the progress bar and % remaining on zero. think this is the brand and number atapi ihas 122 and it shows up in the hardware menu. it reads cds and dvds in fact i burnt a cd with it and copied a dvd and both were fine. it must be something or nothing but like i said pc knowledge very limited so any help much aprecciated chuck,
many thanks astra
