Thumbs down Windows Media Player won't play any media
I am operating on Windows vista. Iused to be abble to play my library of music and watch videos and everything but the last couple of days everytime I try to play any kind of media on it wont play at all. It somes up with " Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help" When I click Web help I go through all the steps I should but the all that they suggest is fine on my computer. Except that it gives me the option of contacting my computer manufacturer and mine doesn't even come up. I have an ASUS. I have no idea what to do. can you help. I would rather not just not use WMP like you suggested someone else.

Unhappy WMP woes
Hi I have a new (1 month old) Asus with Vista Home Premium installed. WMP has faltered occasionally in the past week and is now not working at all. The error message is "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file."
Nothing works. I have spent the better part of the day messing with this with no success. I can't follow the advice to download and re-install from Microsoft's website for windows 11 for Vista, because there is no hot button which actually starts the download. I have been bounced from window to window on their site when trying to do this. Any help would be much appreciated.
