I can no longer get any audio from anything on the internet including Youtube, Pandora, news videos, etc, but sound still works on iTunes and for playing CDs. I have seen a lot of suggestions for using the registry editor, but to no avail. I went to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32 and attempted to add "wavemapper" with msacm32.drv as its entry value but it tells me "The Registry Editor cannot rename New Value #1. The specified value name already exists. Type another name and try again." But when I go to Edit -> Find and type "wavemapper" it does not bring up anything.

Copy this text into notepad (starting with Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00) and save it to your desktop using the name "missing.reg":

After saving the file, go to START > RUN > and type 'regedit' and then click OK
In the registry, select FILE > IMPORT and select the "missing.reg" file from your desktop
You should get a confirmation that it was imported successfully.

This is an instant fix ... your speakers should now work for web sounds, no reboot required.

I don't know what to do or what caused this. The only thing I can think of is that I recently had a virus that I was able to remove that had taken over our Internet browser and would lead to random searches when we typed in an address. We have Realtek High Definition Audio and its drivers are updated. Help!
