Can I use a program on my laptop to send/receive text messages, instead of texting on my BLACKBERRY phone?

Depends who your cellphone carrier is. Some carriers allow SMS using their custom applications.

You also have Google Voice that'll allow you to send and receive SMS.

Who is your cellphone provider?

SMS software for the desktop
Thank you. My carrier is AT&T. I purchased a program named Quicker SMS from a guy in china (I think) for $28 dollars. I had some problems to install it but after that it was just fine. Nothing sophisticated but it does the trick.
