Please help him and you could help me.
I have lost sound. I went and bought a cheapo sound card and that didn't work. I ran system restore to a time when I did have sound and that didn't work. I went and bought a more expensive 4 speaker sound card but still no sound.
My yellow question marks are in the VGA and Ethernet so I do not think that this can be the problem. I have tried speakers, head phones and other head phones that are working on my wifes computer.
Please help as I am following a series on BBC iplayer and I am going to miss the last episode.

bs87 the sound devices are not installed.. you need the drivers to get it to work..you do not state if the device in onboard sound or a sound card that is plugged into a slot on the mother board..in either case you need the driver set for the make of the sound device.

Bert it looks as if you may have conflict problem with devices uninstall the ones with the yellow marks and reboot the machine windows should install the devices if the drivers are available in the system. right click on the desktop/properties/settings will show what video device driver is installed.in device manager check the lan device right click on it for the properties. then you can work on the sound

then your o.s.xp? driver base doesn't cover the sound card or on board sound in your pc.
you will need to go to the manufacturer site for your make and model pc and locate a manual for it.as you haven't given details of the make and model of your pc.so i can't advise you where to go find the drivers..
