Video artefacts and stuttering
Hi there. I have been using the RC of Windows 7 for a few months now but have found that when playing videos in WMP or VLC player, I have a few problems. In WMP, the video will regularly stutter and slow whilst the sounds continues, then speed up and catch up with the sound.

In VLC media player, I get regular short skips and serious artefacts appearing every 20-30 seconds or so, like this:

All my drivers, including video and on-board AC97 sound are up to date. It's a dual boot system, and when playing videos using the same programs in WindowsXP I don't experience these problems. Any ideas?

As I said, my drivers are up-to-date. I have the latest Nvidia drivers:

191.07 English [UK] for Windows Vista, Windows 7 [32-Bit]

In fact, I updated them yesterday as they were only recently released. Prior to that, I had the second most recent release of them installed, but was experiencing this problem then, also.

that may be so but the on board video may only work correctly on vista? not designed for windows7 you would have to check the manual for the motherboard as to compatability for 7

Thanks. I'm not sure what I'd do about that though.

The mobo is an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. It does not have any onboard video. The ASUS website doesn't have a BIOS update that's any newer than 2007 so I'm thinking it's not going to have anything related to Windows 7 for it.
