Windows Media Player Won't Launch
After updating my NET Framework to 3.5 for some reason I can't launch Windows Media Player 11. It will not open a wmv file and it will not launch from the program icon. Other video players on my PC work fine. I've already done some research on this, including trying to uninstall v.11 but apparently I can't do that because it's integrated with my VISTA OS. I've also tried to download an earlier version but it won't let me install it because v.11 is already installed. Any help much appreciated!

Try this please

1. Click Start, click Accessories, the right click on Command Prompt and choose "run as administrator", then type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then hit enter.

2. Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll then hit enter.

3. Now type exit and hit enter. Now try media player and it should work.

Another problem...
Blackmirror,

Thanks for your response. It is very much appreciated!

I followed your directions and after entering the command
and hitting enter I got the following RegSvr32 error message:

"The module "jscript.dll" was loaded but the call to
DllRegister Server failed with error code 0X80004005"

Please advise and thanks again!

try this please

right click the Command Prompt shorcut and select Run As
Administrator from the pop-up menu.

To open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Now getting another error as follows:

"The module "vscript.dll" failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the
specific path or debug it to check for
problems with the binary or dependent
.DLL files.

The specified module could not be found."
