media player is not finding my music
ok so i bought a nice new gateway computer and transferred all of my music into the music folder in my documents. however windows media player has only found a small portion of the songs. what's up with that? is there any way i can get wmp to find them all without manually adding every single last folder?

as i said its a gateway computer, running vista (until my windows 7 disk arrives at least), quad core, 8 gigs of ram.

thank you for any help you may give me.

Click file on the menu and click add to library.
My personal folders should be selected.
Click OK and it should update.
If the classic menu is not visible,it can be accessed by
right clicking an open area of the top bar or right clicking
the bottom of the window.

Look under Tools/Options/Library and make sure the folders being monitored correspond to the folders where you placed your music. The Music folder is no longer in the Docs folder in Vista.

yeah the folder with the music in it is listed as a folder for the library i double checked it and it still picked up nothing, the annoying thing is that it found some of the music but not nearly all of it

Take a close look at these folders.
There is no "My Documents" folder in Vista, it's called "Documents", and the Music Folder is separate.
Move all your music in to "Music" and the problem should go away.

my music already is in the music folder, not in documents, i mean when i go to the "add to library" in wmp i open the music folder and there are all of my cds in there but it only looks at a small number of them and ignores the rest

I wonder if this is a DRM issue?
Try Winamp and see if it sees everything.
