Problems capturing audio & video with Sonic MyDVD
Hi all,

I'm trying to burn a VHS tape directly to a DVD using Sonic MyDVD 7. I've used Sonic many times in the past to capture video and then edit it in Sonic or in another program, but now it's just not seeing any video or audio. Pinnacle Studio is working fine - it sees and captures audio & video - but I'd rather use Sonic because it offers you better options. Any idea why Sonic is not cooperating??

I use a Dazzle DVC170 capture device.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Have you tried the uninstall and re-install fix yet ??
Have you done anything since it stopped working ... Like updating to SP3 for example ??

I can't uninstall and re-install because it came pre-loaded, so I don't have a disc...

I didn't update to SP3. The only major change is that I hooked up an external hard drive, but that shouldn't affect a capture device, should it?

Do you have your Compaq recovery DVDs ???? ... If Not .. Make them NOW.

You should be able to remove Sonic ..
Then reinstall using the application recovery from the Compaq recovery partition.

Once upon a time .. I had problems with Sonic after I upgraded IE .. It still worked but gave me errors when I shut it down.
Figure that one out ... But .. I wasn't using it to capture Video or Audio.

OK, I uninstalled and reinstalled from the recovery DVDs that I made when I got the computer, but Sonic still doesn't see the capture device and VCR. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
