DVD player can't read DVD-RW disc
Hi Guys

My Panasonic DMR-77 hard disc recorder says it play -RW but having just burned some divx and avi movies to a -RW and tried, it keeps asking to format. It will play anything burned to a -R disc but has a problem with recog the -RW. Anyone come across this before. The divx software on my PC does finalise the disc, it just appears not to be read by the player. Any suggestions?

Sounds improbable but does your DMR -77 "like" the brand of -RW disc you used. My DVD player/recorder will only accept certain brands of media. My PC will process it but the DVD player kicks it out.

I must confess I have some -RW but never use them, I prefer to use 1 shot discs and bin any calamities I make.It still might be worth while "borrowing" another brand of -RW from a friend and trying it.
