no sound
I can't hear sound when watching video, but can hear if watching in HD. I can also hear CDs and video I have downloaded. I am running windows xp

same problem on xp.. it all worked before.. i've tried every thing anyone listed anywhere else..uninatalled and reinstalled added codecs ets now even VLC won't work hope there is help here..

first check the sound controllers and drivers are installed in the device manager all enabled and working properly
also check control panel "sounds and audio devices" that the audio device is installed.click on the menus to check

Problem solved. It was a missing file, not sure what happened to it. It has been replaced and problem solved.
