Solved: Problem playing videos
Hi, since re-installing my computer about a month back, my videos have been skipping every few seconds, and the audio has been a bit stuttery. It was all perfect before, and I have had no new hardware since, and all my software is the same as before. I am on Win XP, AMD Phenom 2.3GHz x4, 2 gb RAM, 512mb ATI 3450. It is a common problem when playing from a dvd or a video on the hard drive.
Does anyone know what could be wrong or how to fix it?
Thanks in advance, Bondy

Do you know if you got all the chipset, audio and video drivers completely installed and up to date?

If its a codec compatibility problem VLCMedia player should rectify that, but if not then it might be a driver isue.

Possibly also check the hardware acceleration setting to see if its set to Full.

What video player are your using? Is it Windows Media Player? Have you tried using another video player and get same result?

Are this software (media player classic, vlc, realplayer, AVS dvd player) still installed on your computer? Try to remove them and leave the default Windows Media Player. Try to run video using only the Windows Media Player and without of the above mentioned player installed on your computer. If the issue still there, install VLC only then try running the video again using this player and so on and so fort. Just make sure that if one of the player did not work remove them before installing a new one to avoid issues with the players being installed altogether.

have ya checked your java, because if everything updated except java, sometimes it wont run right cause it dont have the right configurations. Go to Java.com and check, maybe that will help, it helped me.
