Solved: laptop via VGA to HDTV-can't get picture
I'm disabled so I had somebody move my laptop from where it was hooked up to my HDTV to somewhere where I could get at it to load Firefox (IE 8.0 kept dying). We rehooked laptop to HDTV with same VGA cable and now can't get laptop and HDTV to work together. I'm selecting same input which is for VGA connection on HDTV but get black screen which says ' No Signal'. Don't know what changed other than downloading Firefox.
Any ideas?

check the manual for the pc workable video resolutions that the hdtv accepts and reset your vga resolutions on the laptop to suit.

I checked display properties from the desktop. Under the 'Advanced' button I found a 'Display Devices' tab. My monitor had been disabled. When I went in to check resolutions as per your advice, I started digging and found my video display settings. Thanks for the help!
