Solved: Audiocard(s) blown?
Hi there,

I returned today to learn the power had been temporarily cut off in my apartment. Now the sound no longer works in my computer. I have an onboard audiocard and a Soundblaster card (pci-slot), and neither work with my speakers. My speakers DO work when I plug them into my roommate's laptop. Everything else in my computer appears fine.

Does it make sense that BOTH cards would be blown? And if my onboard audio was blown, wouldn't it likely affect the rest of my mainboard?

(And of course, "mute" is off)

Thanks for reading,
Jon

when you try switching to the pci card did you make sure you enable it in the device manager as you probably have one or the other disabled and that would be the reason as to why one would not work. Check the device manager and make sure everything is working fine, you could also try uninstalling the onboard card from the device manager and when you restart windows it should pick up on it and install it again.

Thanks! I disabled my Sound Blaster audio card using the Device Manager and my onboard audio immediately began to work.

Thanks for volunteering your time to help folks like me!
