iTunes library on a NAS box?
Hi everyone, I hope you are able to give me some advice. As my data store on my PC and laptop are growing ever larger, I would like to move my iTunes library, which is around 60GB, to an external NAS box like the Lacie 1TB NAS - these are fairly cheap but should hopefully enable me to centrally store and manage my iTunes library, and access it from my PC or laptop wherever I am in my house. I am not sure however if this is supported or if it can be done, and I have searched the web but not found a definitive answer. Can anyone out there help me with any advice or guidance please?

Thanks for reading

This is almost exactly what I did with my Zune library when I got an external drive, and I used to have iTunes and I know it can be done the same way.

All you do it move the audio files onto your NAS, and then in iTunes you find all the music that you just moved (they should have exclamation marks next to them) and you delete the tracks from the library. Then you re-import then by going to File -> Import, and choosing the folder(s) on your NAS where you put all the music. The only bummer about doing it is that you lose any star ratings that you had, and they might get deleted off of playlists that you created (I've never bothered to make playlists).
