Windows Media Center/Adobe Flash Player
After inserting a rented DVD into the DVD drive, I received this error message: Windows Media Center cannot play Your DVD due to an error C00D1163. Additionally, there was a button that said "Web Help" which I clicked on and received this message: Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy protection between Your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for Your video card.
This is a new Gateway PC, Windows 7, 64 bit. Additionally, when attempting to install Rhapsody, I am prompted that I need the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player, which is not compatible with the 64 bit platform.
(Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.)

Is anyone able to even point me in a direction that may lead to a solution for this?

I beleive what is happening is it thinks you are trying to burn the movie, dont suppose you have just a dvd drive on your computer that isnt a combo burner?

I would say search your error code on the internet or I know there is software to curcumvent this problem although I'm not sure if it is against the rules to tell you the name of that software

You can't view websites in Internet Explorer 64-bit that require flash. Those websites need to be opened in the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.

As for the DVD problem, are you only having this problem with the one DVD? Do others play fine?

DoubleHelix, its a built in feature to microsoft stop to try and stop piracy of movies (not saying thats what it happening) but thats how they designed it, some DVD's do this depending on how they are coded, any dvd can emulate the removal of this coding allowing you to watch them.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make. DVDs are copy protected. They should still play just fine in Windows Media Player.

I know I dont believe its a software issue it has to do with the fact that the dvd is copy protected and the drive is a combo drive, it doesnt have to do with media player its the drive and the OS and the fact the dvd is copy protected that is causing the problem, like I said emulating the removal of the copy protect will solve this.

Combo drive? DVDs play just fine in any modern DVD player. I still have no idea what the point of your posts is. You do not need to emulate or remove anything for this functionality to work.

Thanks guys for all the support. I had purchased the PC recently, but thought it may have to be shipped to the manufacturer for possible repairs, so I was attempting to find an alternative fix. I contacted the retailer and was advised to bring it in to them. A driver update turned out to be the problem, though I had unsuccessfully attempted to do that also. I would like to know if the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer operates primarily the same as the 64-bit version. In other words, if I install the 32-bit, will I actually notice a difference in the functionality of my PC. Also, what would I have to do in order to change to the 32-bit IE?

There's nothing to install. There should be a shortcut to the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer in the start menu. I don't use IE, so I can't comment on the functionality.

There is a shortcut there for Internet Explorer (64-bit), but not for the 32-bit.

If you can not find it on your system it can be downloaded from the link above.

In the "Start Menu" list only Internet Explorer (64-bit) is listed. When I right-click on that there are very limited options. One tab is for compatibility view, and is not operable, stating compatibility mode cannot be set on this program because it is a part of this version of Windows. Another tab says previous versions, but says there has been no previous version on this computer. I am not sure why I am prompted not to use the link suggested, but does anyone know an alternate way of installing Internet Explorer 32-bit on a system running Windows 7 64-bit? Also, is it possible to run BOTH VERSIONS of Internet Explorer on a system?
