Solved: Windows Media Player In ZenCast.com
Windows Media Player doesn't seem to work in this live stream of TV around the world that ZenCast offers. The thing is called IPTV. It has a notice that says "IPTV Channels is not available on Windows XP SP 1 and below." I am running a vista (I can also use XP) and have an updated windows version so this is not a problem.

I think this has happened on other websites that have similar live streams of TV and I don't really understand why it doesn't work. If someone could visit the website ZenCast IPTV and try to figure it out that would be MUCH appreciated. I really don't need it, but it would be interesting to watch TV in other places in the world and stuff.

I've included the error messages in Firefox's tools>error console if that will help any.

Thanks a lot.

Even if you feel you don't know how to fix it, it would be good if someone else could visit the link and just see (and post) if it works on your own computer.

Thanks!

Hi Dan,

Have you tried to recreate the problem in a different browser?

Cheers,

Yes, I have used IE and Firefox and gotten no results. I'm starting to wonder if it's just the website, but I would think they would fix that/let people know. If someone could go on it I would know also. I actually found a Firefox add on that lets me watch TV online so I suppose I don't need this really fixed if I ever wanted to watch TV in other places.

Thanks for the response Kim .

Hey Dan,

It very well could be a website problem, but first I'd check to make sure that your Windows Media Player is set to use streaming video. To do so, try this: Click the Start button > click All Programs > then click Windows Media Player.

If the Player is currently open and you’re in Now Playing mode, click the Switch to Library button in the upper-right corner of the Player. Click Stream, and then click More streaming options. From there, you'll see a button that says, "Turn On Media Streaming."

Give that a try and see if that does the trick.
Cheers,
Kim

Hi Kim,

It sounds like a great idea, but I cannot find where the streaming button is. I can get to library (I didn't click a Switch to Library button to get there though), but don't see any options for streaming. I've attached an image of what my Windows Media Player looks like. I have Windows Media Player 11 if that makes a difference.

Also, here is a post I got from a different website I posted this question to:
Quote:
Hi Mervix:
I took a look and think there is some sort of issue with the WMP extension that their site is trying to use. I took a look at the site and have the same issues you're seeing, which suggests to me the issue is on their side. I'd suggest trying to contact them through the site - I don;t think changing anything on your end will help.
I did try some of the "channels" web pages and was able to see the videos there just fine.
Hope this helps, and good luck -

Pete
Thought it would be interesting, however I cannot access any channels like he can. I would really like to try your way though.

Hi again,

I found out where you got those instructions, and they are only for WMP 7 unfortunately . I think though I found out the equivalent to it in WMP 11. Right click on the upper right black space>options>network tab>check to allow Multicast Streams. It was already checked for me though :/

Hi Dan,

Based on Mervix answer and the fact that your WMP is already prepared to accept streaming, I'm guessing it's on their end. I would try to contact their support community and alert them to the problem.

Sorry I can't help you further with this. Hope that the issue gets resolved for you!

Good luck,
Kim
