Exclamation External HD to home theatre system
Hi, i can't seem to play movies from my hard drive on my home theatre system and was wondering if you could help? My external HD is formatted in MS-DOS and i have a new LG blu-ray home theatre system. The home theatre system offers ipod/iphone, youtube and usb External HD connectivity. When i plug my HD into the Home theatre system, it recognises it, but not the movies. I am able to browse my folders but my movie folder shows as empty. My movies are .m4v format, which my HTS is supposed to support. Any assistance with this problem would be much appreciated.

Option try a usb chip drive format it as ntfs copy a m4v file to it and then see if your HTS plays ok..

get the HP usb format tool to to do the format operation.(google to find it)

If you use a USB extension cable or USB HUB, the USB device may not
be recognized
File extensions: “.jpg”, “.jpeg”, “.png”, “.avi”, “.divx”, “.mpg”, “.mpeg”,
“.mkv”, “.mp4”, “.mp3”, “.wma”, “.pcm” (LPCM)
you could try changing the extension to mp4 on a file to see if it will run ,as m4v is same file format

This player supports USB flash memory/external HDD formatted in
FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS when accessing files (music, photo, movie).
However, for BD-Live, only FAT16 and FAT32 formats are supported.
Please use the Internal Flash Memory or USB flash memory/external
HDD formatted in either FAT16 or FAT32 when using BD-Live.
• The USB device can be used for the local storage for enjoying BD-Live
