Smile Aspire 5515 Wireless Device not found. PLEASE HELP!
One day my wireless was detected, next day it was not. I have gone long enough without it. It is inconvenient to use a ethernet cord, especially now that I have been in college full time, and need my laptop with me most of the day. I have been reading other posts where the wireless card was NOT corrupt, it needed a "this or that" please HELP ME! I will give you any system information that I can possibly share, I am LAPTOP desperate at this point, ONLY because I need the internet for the upcoming semester and I am simply fed up with renting school laptops or being reduced to an ethernet cord. ANY information is VERY much appreciated. When I am at nothing, anything is better than what I have now. Thank you all very much for your time in reading this post!

Does it show up in device manager?
Maybe it is just disabled, does it have a fn key for that? or a switch?
Is there any power management enabled?

What OS?
Does the wireless network icon show in the task bar? Red X through it?
Click on the wireless icon . What does it show for status?

What does Device Manager show under Network Adapyers as your Wireless adapter?
Double click on the adapter name to pull up Properties.
Any messages in Device Status on the General tab.
On the Driver tab, what is the Privider, Date and Version of the driver?

Run an ipconfig /all and post the results here.

From a JohnWill post.
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

My OS is Windows Vista Home basic Service pack 2. I have a slide button to either turn on/off my wireless device. Regardless how many times I slide the button over, it states on the bottom of my screen in GREEN letters... (with out the quotations)... "No Wireless Device" ... also,
When I am around my wireless router I am still with a Red X through my Wireless Network icon in my lower right tabs. It worked one day, then the next it did not work. When I go to my computer drivers, it does not state that I even HAVE a wireless driver. My wireless driver is however supposed to be... hold on I will list it in my next post in just a few moments. .... let me find it...

Are you saying it doesn't work or you can not connect at different locations?

If so this means you need a good line of site to connect. Perhaps the WIFI source is too far away at times.

It won't connect to mine, it won't connect to ANYONE's. I can be right next to the thing, but it won't connect. One day it was working, the next day it was not. Has not since. This was over a year ago! I am using my Acer 5515 right now through a Ethernet cord. But "No Wireless Device" found. Please help!

Now, when I went into my computer launch program to reinstall the device driver, it states "this device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system." (without quotations)

"Insert or Reinsert Now." I am getting frustrated.

Yeap, it appears to be a hardware problem.

Try to re-seat the wireless card. You may also try to power drain the laptop just in case there's some kind of shortcut...

It is possible to purchase a wireless USB adapter. They work pretty well, cost less than $40.00. I use one on our older desktop so we can use the wireless with it..
