I don't mean to state the obvious...but if you're using an ethernet, plug it in and make sure the link lights come on.

If it's wireless, make sure your adapter is turned on and you can view wireless networks.

Ok so im asuming you're using ethernet.

So link light is on and it still says media disconnected? I would try unistalling your ethernet driver and then restart your computer. It'll auto-install it on startup.

"Network cable unplugged" and "Media disconnected" mean the same thing--that the cable or NIC is probably defective.

What do you mean by "NIC is probably defective"?

I mean nothing when you take it out of context. I said, "the cable or NIC is probably defective."

First, determine if it is a defective cable--test it with another computer or try a different one.

Second, if it's not the cable, try a different ethernet adapter.
