| Please help! My computer closes so slow when shutting down. Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2 OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3, 32 bit Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.60GHz, x86 Family 6 Model 13 Stepping 8 Processor Count: 1 RAM: 894 Mb Graphics Card: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Series, 128 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 38146 MB, Free - 13896 MB; Motherboard: TOSHIBA, Satellite L30 Antivirus: AVG Internet Security 2012, Updated: Yes, On-Demand Scanner: Enabled Please help. I had deleted so many programs already, ran a ccleaner (which solved some of my problems) but still when I shuts down it takes a very long time  . Can you help me find the problem? Any help will be much appreciated. |

| Generally that's indicative of some application having a hold on the registry which takes a while to be released so the machine can shut down. There's an application that can be installed to release the registry but let's see if that's the issue. Please go to Start - Run - type in eventvwr.msc to open the event viewer. Look under "Application" for recent events with a yellow warning shown with the source being "Userenv". Let me know if you see any of those listed there.

| There is an error that occurs just before the userenv warning that I'd like to see the details of please. It's this one: Error 6/7/2012 12:53:11 AM EventSystem (50) 4609 N/A YOUR-891BF961F5 Please do the following to post the details of that specific error: Double-click the error to open it up and then click on the icon that looks like two pieces of paper. This will copy the full error to the clipboard but you won't actually see anything happen. Then "paste" the error into a reply here please. If we can eliminate this error then possibly the utility I will have you download to release the registry may not be needed. Nevertheless, I'm posting the instructions to install the Microsoft User Profile Hive Cleanup utility in case you prefer not to wait. It will install a service that you will see in the running processes that clears the registry safely on shutdown when these types of problesm occur. | OK. Please do that and then reboot and run it for a day or so. Then report back with a list of errors again from the Event Viewer as you did in post no. 3 (just the summary) so I can see if some of those are resolved and let me know if the shutdown problem has been fixed.

persists. The funny thing is it does alternately like ... It would shut down easily the first try and when I turned it back again and shut off the second time it would hanged and wont shut down unless I pulled the plug off from the power. I did tried to leave it hanged and went to sleep to see if it will shut down in a few hours but when I checked it the next morning, the screen still shows where It hanged. So I have to force it to shut down, cut the power source and let the battery ran out. So frustrating. |
