First do you have any other wireless devices that connect to the net and have you tried to reset the router to factory settings? If resetting the router does not help then provide the following logs.

You will need to right click and run these tools as admin.

Please download FarbarServiceScanner and run it on the computer with the issue.

Make sure the following options are checked:
Internet Services
Windows Firewall
System Restore
Security Center/Action Center
Windows Update

Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:

Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)

Click Go and post the result.

On the router disable encryption and MAC Address filtering and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

i entered the commands reset the laptop and attempted to use drivermax but there is a 2 download per day limit.
i also changed the DNS server but i am still unable to browse the internet.
i even purchased a wireless adaptor from my local computer shop, i am able to connect to the network but network and sharing centre states unidentified network and only local connectivity only.

Neither start multiple threads on the same topic nor advise others to do so.

Ihatecats, advise OPs to click on Report and request a move to the desired forum. When that forum is the Virus & Other Malware Removal Forum you can sometimes help them by also advising that they should post the information requested in the first sticky thread in that forum.

I could and would move it except I do not understand why I should. Many problems like this turn out to be encryption or driver issues. Since I may not be the only one who does not know how to detect malware in all that output you requested it would be nice if you mentioned it. Not any detailed explanation, just a "'such and such' in the output often indicates malware" would be sufficient for me. Thanks.
