Hello!

I'm having a major bandwidth leak problem on my PC. I would browse the web, and every once a while a page would download 150MB and upload 30MB. This doesn't happen often on the techguy forums (and by not often I mean only once every 3-4 clicks instead of just about every click on something like Facebook, which is still pretty huge), so I think the leak profits from bigger page loads to try to slip through unnoticed.

I use Firefox, but I fired up IE and it had this problem too. I use Windows Firewall and MSE, but they aren't catching anything.

I have used networx to track this issue, though it does not tell me what is using this bandwidth. Virus? Trojan?

Please help me, right now I'm too scared to browse the web

Download and save and then install the free version of

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.61.0.1400

SUPERAntiSpyware 5.5.0.1106

Make sure to update their definition files during the install process.

Make sure to uncheck and decline to install any extras, such as toolbars and homepages, they may offer.

After they're installed and updated, restart the computer.

Run a quick scan with each of them.

When each scan is finished, select and remove EVERYTHING they found.

Restart the computer, if prompted to, so the removal process can finish.

Note: DON'T use the computer while each scan is in progress.

Ok, I did that and SuperAntiSpyware found over 100 tracking cookies. I deleted them, the problem is still there though.

However I think the tracking software (networx) may be mistaken: during a 4min Skype conversation, it said I averaged 33.7MB/s download. However, my connection isn't so fast: it's about 30mbps, which is about 3.5MB/s download speed at max. Is there a more reliable tracking software that I could use? I run Win7 64bit.
