WPS54GU2 print server
I am trying to install a WPS54GU2 print server but no luck, the initial set up does not even find the print server. I have tried both parallel and usb. The green lite for both parallel and usb are on, so the print server is finding the printer (hp 5550). I have double checked the cable set up. I don't know what else to do. The lite for the lan is showing green also. Running winxp. Please help don't know what else to do.

Have you tried changing the intial setup to include all print servers not just new unconfigured print servers?

Also here is a link to the manual - ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/wps54gu2_ug.pdf

In there in Appendix A it tells you how to force it back to factory defaults.

Also another questions are you using a wireless router or a WAP to connect to this Wireless print server? Is this linksys as well or another brand are you using encryption of any kind?

Yes I have tried the all print servers. I am using a Linksys router wireless, I have it set for wpa. I realize my print server does not support wpa, but that should matter only after the set up recognizes the print server, right? or does the router have to be set for wep for the set up to recognize the print server?

Thank you

This may not be much help but I use a linksys wireless setup comprising of wap54g router and wps54gu2 server. I had to set up the router first (manual - ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/wap54g_v2-...web%5B1%5D.pdf) and then this helped me set up the server. One thing i discovered is that hp printers don't like to be networked unless with an hp jetdirect server. I managed to set up my hp printer by plugging it directly into the computer and installing a similar but different model on the wireless port. Create a copy of the driver from the directly connected printer. Then using the advanced tab in the printers properties window change the driver of the imaginary printer on the wireless port to the copy that you made. Mine now works fine except the printer will not 'talk back' to the computer. I hope this helps if you manage to get the network set up.
